STEAR Program helps those in need during emergencies

The State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry, known as STEAR, is a free, voluntary program designed to help local officials prepare for disasters by identifying residents who may need extra help when emergencies strike. Those in DeWitt County can register.

Commissioners declare week of Oct. 6 as National 4-H Week

The DeWitt County Commissioners Court made a proclamation declaring the week of Oct. 6 as National 4-H Week at the Sept. 22 meeting.

DeWitt County Commissioners institute burn ban

The DeWitt County Commissioners approved a burn ban at the Aug. 25 meeting.The Keetch-Byram Drought Index determines whether or not a burn ban should be instituted. “The Keetch Byram Index shows the average is at 546,” DeWitt County Judge Daryl Fowler said.

DeWitt Commissioners present Distinguished Service Award

The Texas Historical Commission received a distinguished service award certificate at the DeWitt County Commissioners Court meeting July 14.“We’re just proud that we had this commission that is an active commission,” Historical Commission Director Peggy Ledbetter said.
