Brahmas host Giddings in final scrimmage

Hallettsville will host Giddings in its final scrimmage here Thursday starting at 6 p.m. with the junior varsity.The Brahmas scrimmaged Rice Consolidated in Altair last Thursday.“I was pleased with the offensive line in the scrimmage,” Brahma head coach Levi Montgomery said.

UIL mandates "heat stress" monitor

Beginning this school year, the University Interscholastic League has put into effect that a “heat stress” monitor must be used for any outdoor athletic or marching band activities.The UIL refers to this requirement as a “Heat Stress & Athletic Participation Required Plan.

Brahma Booster Club tourney

The 3rd Annual Booster Club Four-man Scramble has three teams tied for first place.Preston Mackey, Clay Zavesky, Jake Grasshoff and Tyler Kurtz won first place on the fourth playoff hole.Members of the Brahma golf team – Canyon and Colt Zavesky and Eli and Liam Ferguson – finished third.

Brahmas have 63 attend first practice

The numbers for the Brahmas’ first practice was 63, a little lower than last year.“I feel optimistic about the first day,” Brahma head coach Levi Montgomery said. “You can tell a lot of work that the kids did over the summer paid dividends.

Fall sports workouts to begin

BrahmasThe Brahmas start practice Monday, Aug. 3 and will workout from 4-7 p.m.The same schedule will run thru Thursday.Hallettsville returns five offensive and seven defensive starters from a 3-8 team.

Jourdanton wins best-of-three series 2-1

KARNES CITY – The Brahmas were eliminated from the playoffs after Jourdanton came back from a one game deficit to take the series two games to one.The Brahmas lost the rubber match of the series 9-5 Saturday afternoon after a hail of walks, hit batsmen and errors.

Brahmas finish 10th

AUSTIN – Brahma golf finished 10th at the UIL State Tournament held Monday and Tuesday, April 27-28 at Jimmy Clay Golf Course.The Brahmas shot a team total 334-345-679.Eli Ferguson shot the best score with a 78-80-158.

Brahmas defeat Stockdale 6-1, 12-2

KENEDY – The Hallettsville Brahmas swept Stockdale 6-1, 12-2 to win their bi-district 3A Division II series Thursday night.Game 1H’ville 6, Stockdale 1Hudson Chenard overcame a shaky first inning and pitched a complete game in the 6-1 victory.

VANDERBILT – The Brahmas ended the regular season with a 3-2 victory over Vanderbilt Industrial Wednesday, April 22.The game was called after five innings because of rain.Weston Loudon pitched all five innings and gave up two unearned runs, two hits, did not allow a walk and struck out four.
