Hallettsville ISD journalism class attends industry convention in Boston

The Hallettsville ISD journalism program embarked on a trip to Boston, Massachusetts on Nov. 1 for the Journalism Education Association convention.
“It was great! We went through three days of workshops and the girls competed in a national contest,” Journalism teacher Christi Opiela said.

The Hallettsville Independent School District recently was chosen to receive Devon Energy’s 150th science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) Center in partnership with the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation.

The Hallettsville ISD Board of Trustees held a regular meeting Monday evening and received the annual financial audit report for the year ending Aug. 31, 2023.
Representing Roloff, Hnatek, and Co. L.L.P., Yvette Castro covered the district’s balance sheet and its focus on the general fund.
