Shiner track and field: Shiner boys place second at regionals

The Shiner track team is sending athletes on two relays teams and two individual events to the UIL state meet following the 2A-IV meet last weekend in Kingsville.The boys came in second with 61 points.

Shiner baseball: Shiner sweeps ‘Horns 9-1, 12-3

GOLIAD — The Shiner Comanches plated 21 runs and allowed four in a 9-1 and 12-3 sweep of Agua Dulce April 29 in the bi-district round of the playoffs in Goliad.“We put up a lot of runs today but we also had a lot of swing and misses, which is a credit to Agua Dulce’s pitchers.

Shiner baseball: Comanches come off unscheduled break to beat FHS 8-1

The Shiner Comanches had not played baseball since after beating Ganado on the road April 14 and then having the district closer rescheduled three times due to weather.

Shiner softball: LCs defeat Agua Dulce 11-0, 17-0 in bi-district round

KARNES CITY — The Shiner Comanches got past the first hurdle to Austin as they swept Agua Dulce Lady Longhorns 11-0 and 17-0 Thursday evening at Karnes City High School.In the series, Shiner produced 28 runs and about 29 hits while giving up no runs and just three hits to the Lady ‘Horns.

The Lady Comanches wrapped up district play with a loss at Ganado on April 14 and (non-district game at CC Calallen on Friday)Ganado 6, Shiner 2The Lady Comanches closed out the district season with a 6-2 loss at top-ranked Ganado on April 14.

Jacob Nerada hit 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI while Charlie Clifford hit a home run and had two RBI in a 5-0 win at Ganado on April 14.Jake Simper doubled and scored two runs while Lane Simper doubled with one run.

Shiner golf: Comanches golf fourth at regionals; girls place fifth

The Shiner girls golf team had an overall score of 879 to place fifth at the regional meet April 15-16 in Corpus Christi. The Lady Comanches shot a 448 and 431.
