NOTES FROM THE WOLTERS MUSEUM BY: CURATOR DUFF WAGNER

Hi Space and Time Friends. Did you know that time travel stories require a beginning and an end and those two locations and times in the Space Time Continuum have to be the same? So, today, I am not taking you anywhere except the Present: the here and now.

I had a visitor and his family come to the Museum recently to donate an item. Those visitors being Andy Franklin and his parents Will and Allison, and his sister Maggie with a story to tell.

Andy received a metal detector for Christmas. On his first outing with his dad, Andy found a 5 cent Shiner Drug Company token, on the site of his great-grandfather’s house behind the Catholic Church property.

His great-grandfather was Frank Streng, his grandfather is Gene Streng, and his mother is Allison Streng Franklin.

What a find as it was the only one this writer had ever seen, so it is pretty rare. Andy, like Indiana Jones, felt like donating it because…”it belongs in a museum!”

Andy donated it for display because he hoped his young friends would be inspired to get a metal detector, too, and start looking for old stuff like he and his dad do!

What an inspiration and a big Shiner, Texas thank you to Andy!

Come by and see Andy’s token along with all the other Shiner Trade tokens we have at YOUR Museum.
