YOAKUM CLEAN UP PROGRAM
It is time for the City of Yoakum semiannual
Clean Up Program. Starting today and through
April 30, the following services will be offered in
an effort to assist local residents in making Yoakum
a better place to live, work, and play:
Free residential bulk item pick up will not be
available for this program.
In addition to regular garbage pickup, residents
will have the opportunity to bring any large items
to the Solid Waste Management Facility for free
disposal.
Items will not be picked up inside or outside of
the city limits of Yoakum.
For your convenience, the Solid Waste Management
Facility will be open 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on April 30
for Yoakum citizens with valid utility bills.
A remote site will be available 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on
April 30 at N. South and Airport Rd. across from
the Rodeo Grounds for drop off of household
waste, large household items, and non-commercial
tires.
No limbs, electronics, or metal will be accepted
at this location.
Commercial tires, appliances with refrigerants,
paint, hazardous waste, and concrete cannot be
accepted at the Solid Waste Transfer Station. A
limit of four tires per household will be accepted.
Limbs, brush, and yard waste will not be picked
up in coordination with the Clean Up Event; these
will be picked up with the city’s normal chipping/
yard waste routes.
As a reminder, the Solid Waste Management
Facility is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and
Friday 8:15 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and on Wednesdays 8:15
a.m.-4 p.m. (closed from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.) The
facility is also open each Saturday 8 a.m.-noon.
Citizens are allowed to dump permitted items
free of charge with the presentation of a City of
Yoakum utility bill. Appliances (without refrigerants),
furniture, computers, and computer accessories
are accepted.
Citizen volunteers are asked to join a debris/
litter collection effort throughout Yoakum in an
effort to beautify our community.
Organizations wishing to participate in the
Clean Up Program through this method may contact
City Hall between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for location
coordination and equipment (grabbers, trash
bags, etc.) to assist with the effort.
For more information or anyone interested in
volunteering their time or equipment, please contact
City Hall at 361-293-6321.
Community involvement is a must for this to
be a success!
