Ready to turn these two into a couple of soggy saps?
'C'mon Cupcake!' the crazy one was heard shouting...*
They don’t let us out much. Especially not together. And there’s probably a good reason for that, though the precise logic eludes me just now…
But get ready: They’re letting us loose tomorrow.
No, we’re not convicts! Well, the dude on the right ain’t, we’re pretty ceratain anyway. Don’t get me to lying about that other feller.
Besides, it’s not the law that’s letting us loose anyway. Not this time, at least. In fact, some might even argue it’s far worse than just jail.
We’re making a break from the news office, you see, and we’re going to word this place up even if it means we gotta go out and make ourselves a story.
That’s right, folks: Two reporters are getting loosed on your town. The vile media in the flesh, tearing through the very avenues and boulevards of your hometown, snapping their little pictures and scribbling their little notes…
Kinda makes you wanna toss something, don’t it? Really hard and fast, right?
We sure hope so. Because me and Junior there, as soon as we get free of these keyboards they have us chained to, we’re headed straight for the water, the Lavaca Swimming Pool water, that is, just off FM 957 at Hallettsville’s edge, where for the low-low price of a buck a ball, you can you can sling ’em at us ’til your arm’s sore, if that’s your fancy.
We’ll be the ones in the dunkin’ booth, you see, 11 a.m. to noon.
It’s your golden opportunity to see if you can’t turn them fancy pants writers into a couple a washed up soggy bottom boys. Quite literally, in fact.
So, think you got what it takes to sling me in the drink? Step right up, Cupcake. Give it your best shot…
We’ll see you at the pool. After all, we didn’t put on our floaties on for nothing…

* Note: In case you were wondering, this is what we in The Biz like to call "selective editing," for his actual quote was: "Come on over and and try a Cupcake. I was up baking all night. They're really quite tasty. And could you help me get this dang floatie off my arm. I'm strarting to lose sensation here..."
