44th Annual South Texas Polka and Sausage Fest, March 21-23

The 44th Annual South Texas Polka and Sausage Fest is set for March 21-23 with all festivities scheduled at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hallettsville.

A weekend filled with Polka music and good food will take place during the event will also include the 7th annual induction into the South Texas Polka Hall of Fame.

This year, the Shiner Hobo Band will be inducted with ceremonies taking place on Sunday, March 23.

Friday, March 21

The Fest will begin Friday with a dine-in or plate-to-go Lenten meal including fried fish and all the trimmings, available starting at 5 p.m.

The entertainment for the evening will be provided by Vanek’s of West and The Red Ravens from 6 to 11 p.m.

A special feature this year will be a Polka dance contest taking place at 8 p.m. including 17 and under as well as 18 and up competing.

Admission cost for Friday night is $12 per person.

Saturday, March 22

On Saturday, Polka Fest activities will take place from 1 to 10 p.m. with The Czechaholics, Jodie Mikula and Dujka Brothers performing on a stage.

Admission for Saturday’s event is $15 per person.

A lunch meal consisting of sausage, sauerkraut, German-style potatoes, kolaches will be available beginning at noon and throughout the day.

Sunday, March 27

The Fest will continue on Sunday with the same menu including homemade chicken noodle soup as well as fried chicken.

The meal will be available starting at 10:30 a.m. and be served throughout the day.

A Polka Mass will be celebrated starting at 9 a.m. and the Shiner Hobo Band will kick-off the entertainment performing from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The afternoon entertainment will be provided by the Ennis Czech Boys and Mark Halata and Texavia performing from 1 to 6 p.m.

The Hall of Fame ceremony is expected to take place is during the day.

Admission to Sunday’s event $12 per person.

The cost of admission does not include the cost of the meals.

A weekend pass is available at $35 per person and does not include the cost of meals.

Individuals 15 and under will be admitted free.

Table reservations are available at $100 and include 8 drink tickets for each reservation. Reservations can be made by contacting the Hallettsville KC Hall office at (316) 798-2311.

Doors will open an hour before the music starts each day.

The South Texas Polka and Sausage Fest is sponsored by the Hallettsville K of C Council 2433 with all net proceeds benefitting the Knights of Columbus Fund for the Sacred Heart Catholic School Athletic Program.
