45th Annual South Texas Polka/Sausage Fest this weekend

The 45th Annual South Texas Polka and Sausage Fest is set for this weekend with all activities taking place at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hallettsville.

Organizers have lined up a talented group of musicians to perform polka music each day.

In addition, the weekend will include good food as well as the annual induction ceremonies of the South Texas Polka Hall of Fame.

The Fest will start on Friday with a dine-in or plate-to-go Lenten meal including fried fish and all the trimmings, available starting at 5 p.m.

The Red Ravens and Chris Rybak will perform from 6 to 11 p.m. and a special feature will be a Polka dance contest starting at 8 p.m.

There will be two divisions including a 17 and under division and an 18 and up competition.

Admission cost for Friday night is $12 per person.

On Saturday, a trio of Polka bands including The Czechaholics, Jodie Mikula and Dujka Brothers taking turns performing on a stage from 1 to 10 p.m.

Admission for Saturday’s event is $15 per person.

A lunch meal consisting of sausage, sauerkraut, German-style potatoes as well as kolaches will be available beginning at noon and throughout the day.

Sunday will begin with a Polka Mass celebrated beginning at 9 a.m. and the lunch menu will be the same as Saturdays including homemade chicken noodle soup and fried chicken being served.

The meal will be available starting at 10:30 a.m. and be served throughout the day.

The Shiner Hobo Band will kick-off the entertainment performing from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

In the afternoon the Ennis Czech Boys and Mark Halata and Texavia will split time on the stage from 1 to 6 p.m. The two will combine for a concert held from 5 to 5:30 p.m.

The Hall of Fame ceremony is expected to take place during the afternoon with The Czechaholics being into the 8th annual ceremonies.

Admission to Sunday’s event is $12 per person.

The cost of admission does not include the cost of the meals.

A weekend pass is available at $35 per person, but does not include the cost of the meals.

Table reservations are available at $100 and include 8 drink tickets for each table reservation. Reservations can be made by contacting the Hallettsville KC Hall office.

The South Texas Polka and Sausage Fest is sponsored by the Hallettsville K of C Council 2433 with all net proceeds benefitting the Knights of Columbus Fund for the Sacred Heart Catholic School Athletic Program.
