54th Annual Fiddlers Frolics set for April 25-27
The 54th annual Fiddlers Frolics will take place April 25-27, with top entertainers lined up to appear during the weekend.
Also, the best fiddler players in Texas, as well as some from out of state, will compete in being the best of the best.
Friday, April 25
Beginning at 5 p.m. the traditional Cajun Fun Night will begin offering a menu of crawfish, gumbo, red beans and rice as well as hamburgers available throughout the evening.
Friday night’s entertainment will be provided by the Texas Unlimited Band, who will perform on stage from 8 p.m. to 12 midnight.
Admission for Friday night is free.
In addition, a junior fiddle and guitar workshop will take place under the pavilion from 7 to 10 p.m.
Saturday, April 26
On Saturday, April 26, a noon meal consisting of roast beef and sides will be served for $13 per plate.
During the day inside the hall, various fiddle contest divisions will take place throughout the morning and afternoon.
Admission to the Saturday fiddle contest is $12 per person.
Under the pavilion, Broken Alibi will perform from 12 noon to 3 p.m. and will be followed by Cactus Country from 3 to 6 p.m. The entertainment is free to the public.
Inside the hall on Saturday night, country singer/ songwriter/guitarist Kyle Park will perform as well as The Frontmen. Park will take the stage at 8:30 p.m.
Park has performed across North America and Europe headlining for well-known singers George Strait, Clint Black and Willie Nelson.
He has released a number of Texas Radio Songs including more recently “Hill Country” (2023) and “All Nighters” (2024).
The Frontmen is composed of a trio of singers who sang for three of the top country bands of the 1990’s.
The three singers include Richie McDonald, formerly of Lonestar, Tim Rushlow, formerly of Little Texas and Larry Stewart of Restless Heart.
Some of the top songs performed by The Frontmen include Restless Heart hits of “The Bluest Eyes in Texas” and “I’ll Still Be Loving You,” while Lonestar top songs include “Amazed”, “Front Porch Looking In” and “I’m Already There” classic hits of Little Texas include “God Blessed Texas” and “Amy’s Back in Austin.”
The cost for the Saturday night dance is $40 per admission at the door, or $35 if purchaseD online in advance.
Activities continue Sunday morning, April 27 with Fiddlers’ Frolics Hall of Fame induction taking place along with the Senior division fiddle contest, where contestants 65 years or older, will compete.
The highlight of the event will be Sunday afternoon with the Texas State Fiddle contest.
Fiddle contestants from throughout Texas will perform to see who will wear the crown as this year’s state champion fiddler.
The fiddlers will compete throughout the afternoon and will culminate with the Cliff & Velda Fryer championship playoff starting around 5 p.m.
Cost for Sunday’s fiddle contest is $12 per ticket.
Sunday, April 27
Sunday under the pavilion, the Christian Country Music Ministry will play from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. They will be followed by George Dearborn performing from 1 to 5 p.m.
The entertainment under the pavilion is free.
Along with all the musical entertainment taking place, the weekend will also offer the barbecue contest as well as arts & crafts booths and various types of food booths available.
The event promises fun for the whole family.
