Annual Sacred Heart Parish Fall picnic Sunday
The Sacred Heart Parish Fall picnic will take place Sunday with all activities held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hallettsville.
The traditional picnic dinner consisting of country fried chicken, stew, homemade corn bread dressing with all the trimmings will be served for those planning to dine-in from 10:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. inside the hall. Drive-thruplates-to-go will also be available from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Dinein and to-go are $13 per plate.
At 1 p.m., prior to the start of the auction, a short memorial will be held with Sacred Heart Catholic Church pastor Msgr. John Peters conducting the ceremony.
Following the memorial, the afternoon will be filled with an assortment of activities taking place.
The auction will be held under the main pavilion and will feature handmade quilts, antiques, cattle, homemade canned goods, noodles, vegetables, outdoor furniture and much more on sale.
Inside the cool, air-conditioned hall, a bingo including an assortment of prizes will start at noon and continue until 6 p.m.
Other activities taking place inside the hall include a cake walk, country store and a religious article booth.
Outside the hall and under the main pavilion, the Kovanda Czech Band will perform from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will precede the memorial and auction.
Underneath the Polka/Biergarten pavilion, a free dance will be held with the Dujka Brothers and Red Ravens taking turns performing throughout the day from 1 to 8 p.m.
Also throughout the afternoon, a variety of entertainment will be available for the children.
At the end of the picnic, a 31 gift-certificate drawing will take place with prizes ranging from $1,000 to $100.
In addition, the 20 Grand give-away will be drawn with a total of 10 prizes given away.
Throughout the day and evening, delicious hamburgers, nachos, popcorn, snocones, lemonade, and plenty of cold drinks will also be available.
Msgr. John Peters and Father Michael Rother, along with Sacred Heart parishioners, invite you to come out to the K of C Hall Sunday for a day filled with fun and entertainment for all ages.
