Annual SVFD cookoff, car show this weekend

The Annual Shiner VFD BBQ Cookoff and Car Show will be held on Friday, April 8 and Saturday, April 9. All the activities will take place in and around Green-Dickson Park.

On Friday, BBQ teams can begin check-in at 3:30 p.m.

Saturday, April 9, starts with a Car Show from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. (judging after 12) and Mini-Tractor Pull from 1-4 p.m.

Washer tournament check in starts at 1:30 p.m.

All day Saturday, teams will be working on food as well. There will be a Pie Contest, and competitions for Jackpot Pinto Beans, Pork Spare Ribs, Chicken, and Brisket. Awards will be held at 5 p.m.

There will also be a helicopter landing zone and tours beginning at 12 noon and a kid’s fishing tourney from 9 a.m.-12 noon.

The Shiner Hobo Band will provide Shiner-style music from 12-2 p.m.

There will be games and entertainment for kids, arts, crafts, and food vendor booths all day long.
