Chrismon, Sevcik, Knesek take top honors
The Shiner High School Class of 2025 will graduate Friday, May 23 at Comanche Stadium.
Callie Chrismon has been named Shiner High School Class of 2025 Valedictorian. Callie Chrismon is the daughter of Cody and Jennie Chrismon. She has attended Shiner ISD since Pre-K.
Callie was drum major for the marching band her senior year and has been part of the State Champion and State Runner Up Marching Bands. She won a Youth Action Teen Award her freshman year. She has been involved at her church including being a mentor to younger teens and teaching classes for the youth.
She has been involved in many extracurricular activities while in high school. She has been her class president for her freshman and junior years and vice president her sophomore and senior years. She has been in NHS since her sophomore year and has served as president this past year.
Callie has been active in Student Council including serving as class representative her freshman, sophomore and junior years and is currently Co-Vice- President. She has been involved with Fellowship of Christian Athletes and has been a Leader for the past three years.
Callie excelled at UIL Academics and took part in Calculator, Number Sense, Science and Feature Writing. She will compete in the State UIL Academic Meet in Science this year.
Callie performed in One Act Play for two years where they competed at area competition.
She participated in basketball her freshman year, cross country for three years, golf for four years and tennis for four years. Callie ran at the state cross country meet her freshman and sophomore years, played golf at the state meet her junior year, where they placed 6th and senior year, where they placed 8th, and was district champion and regional qualifier in tennis each of her 4 years. Callie has been involved in 4-H since she was in third grade. She has qualified for State Round Up in the Food Challenge Contest her senior year, been a state of Texas representative at the National 4-H Congress and a Gold Star Recipient. Callie was a Healthy South Texas Youth Ambassador for three years.
Callie has served as a president for Half Moon 4-H her sophomore year, parliamentarian her junior year and vice president her freshman and junior year. She was the Lavaca County 4-H secretary her junior year and is currently the treasurer. Callie was also named a 4-H Foundation Scholar for 2025.
Callie will be working on the Ropes Course at Blue Haven Youth Camp in Las Vegas, NM this summer and then attending Lubbock Christian University in the fall to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Callie Sevcik, daughter of Ryan and Amye Sevcik, has been named Salutatorian of the Class of 2025. Callie is involved in many extracurricular activities as well as community service projects. Callie has been a varsity athlete for the past four years in volleyball, basketball, softball, cheer and for her senior year she participated in golf.
In school Callie is a part of Student Council, she is a Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leader, President of the FFA, Treasurer of the National Honors Society, a Student Senate Representative, and was titled as the 2024 Stock Show Queen.
In the community, Callie is the 2024-2025 Miss Shiner, a J-Squad Coordinator, and has successfully created her own charity organization called Beautifully Unbroken in memory of her late sister, Trista.
Callie plans to attend Texas A&M University for the next four years while majoring in Biology in hopes to graduate with her Doctorate to become an Anesthesiologist.
Keely Ann Knesek, daughter of Timothy and Natalie Knesek, has been named the Historian for the Shiner High School Class of 2025. Keely has been attending Shiner ISD since 2nd grade. During her time in high school, Keely has been involved in many different organizations and leadership-based groups.
Keely is a member of the National Honor Society and served as the Character Chair her junior year and as Secretary this past year. She is the Co-Vice President for Shiner Student Council and has served in several different roles over the last four years. Within Shiner Student Council, she has been involved in the Pride and Patriotism Committee, D.A.S.H. Committee, and Energy and Environment Committee. Keely has also served as a Fellowship of Christian Athletes for the last three years.
Keely not only excels in leadership roles but has also strived for excellence in many UIL academic events. While in high school, she competed in theatrical design, calculator applications, social studies, current events, copy editing, literary criticism, and Lincoln-Douglas debate. During her senior year, she was given the opportunity to be one of the first debaters from Shiner High School and went on to be the district champion and place sixth at regionals.
Keely was also very involved in band over the years, twirling as feature twirler for the last three years, and librarian and uniform crew member for the last four years.
In band, she played the role of ‘The Saint’ in the band’s state-winning performance of 2022, ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ in the 4th place show of 2023, and played ‘Joan of Arc’ in her senior year. Also within the band, she twirled at state solo and ensemble contests several times.
Outside of school, Keely is a competitive baton twirler, twirling for the last twelve years. She has twirled on the state and national levels since 2016. As she prepares for college and hangs up her batons, she will continue her work within the twirling community by coaching and spreading her love for the sport that raised her.
Also, outside of school, Keely has been very involved in Texas 4-H for the last ten years. Keely has served as a Healthy Texas Youth Ambassador all four years of high school, District 11 3rd Vice Chair during her junior year, and served as 2nd Vice Chair her senior year.
Keely has traveled across the state, Atlanta, Georgia, Washington D.C., and Spain with 4-H, learning countless leadership skills and global citizenship life lessons. Keely has been involved in many different project areas of 4-H, but her favorite projects are Leadership and Citizenship and Visual and Performance Arts.
Keely has been awarded a Texas 4-H Opportunity Scholarship, based on her exemplary leadership skills and all she has accomplished through her involvement over the last ten years.
Keely is an active member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, where she serves as an altar server, and has volunteered many hours at Kids Camp and at Catholic Heart Work Camp in the summers.
Keely was a ten-year summer camper at The Pines Catholic Camp, where she attended Service Work Week this past summer. In the upcoming summer, she plans to work at The Pines and is excited to give back to a place that has given her so much over the years.
Keely will be attending Texas A&M University to major in Human Development and Family Sciences, where she will be one of the first members of the first freshman cohort at Texas A&M.
She plans to follow her bachelor’s degree with a Child Life Certification, with hopes to one day work in a children's hospital as a certified Child Life Specialist.
