Christmas on Grand planned for Dec. 2

The Yoakum Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to present Christmas on the Grand on Saturday, Dec. 2 and will be once again be bringing snow to Yoakum in the Railroad Park.

Local businesses will be open for shopping needs 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. and will host lots of unique arts and crafts vendors in Railroad Park 2- 6 p.m. 

A snow area and a slide for everyone to enjoy as well as kids games, face painting, miniature train rides, gingerbread bounce house and snow globe photo opportunity will be featured. Santa will also be available for pictures (bring your camera) and local organizations and businesses will distribute treats for children 2-6 p.m. There are small fees for the various attractions from $1 to $5 to help raise funds for more lighted displays in Railroad Park.  Fabulous live entertainment throughout the afternoon to get you in the holiday spirit by the Yoakum Intermediate Choir, Mr. Reed Gearson  and the New Life Baptist Church Band. 

The 2023 “Illuminated” Christmas Parade starts at 7 p.m. on W. Grand Ave. at Ewald St. and proceeds straight down W. Grand Ave. through the Yoakum arch and end on Front St.

For the safety of everyone, no items may be thrown from the entries. All entries must be lit in some manner such as Christmas lights, flashlights and/or reflectors. Bicycles and walking groups are encouraged to participate. Please do not have any human Santas as the “Real” Santa will be on the Fire Truck at the beginning of the parade. 

The day will conclude with a free Christmas movie: “The Polar Express” at the Grand Theater at 8 p.m. See you there!
