County holds active attacker drills at hospital
Lavaca County EMS had the privilege of participating in an active attacker drill at Yoakum Community Hospital on Wednesday, March 8. This drill was an opportunity for hospital staff to practice protocols on how to protect themselves and others given an active attacker situation.
Lavaca County EMS was able to work alongside Yoakum Fire Department in treating mock patients and evacuating them from the hospital to a safe location where care could be given and patients could be prepped for evacuation.
It was great to see the teamwork among the hospital, PD, Fire and EMS to achieve the great good for our citizens. This teamwork is the foundation of trust and collaboration that we are proud to be part of.
Thank you to all those involved and inviting Lavaca County EMS to be a part of it. Agencies involved included: Yoakum Community Hospital, Yoakum Police Department, Yoakum Fire Department, Shiner Police Department, Hallettsville Police Department, Cuero Police Department, Lavaca County Sheriff’s Office, Lavaca County EMS, Texas Department of Emergency Management, Texas DPS and Hallettsville ISD.
