Court approves GLO grant update
The Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court met in a special-called meeting Wednesday morning, July 5 and approved a General Land Office (GLO) update with Huitt-Zollars and Langford Community Management Services.
The court heard from Greg Wine, an engineer with Huitt-Zollars, who served as its lead spokesman at the meeting, while Jill Phinney with Langford Community Management Services joined the meeting via a zoom hook-up.
According to Judge Keith Mudd, this past January the GLO had approved available funding for Lavaca County road improvements, which would be split between the four precincts

Phinney spoke about the information needed when filing the application to GLO for their approval.
She said the deadline for submitting the application is Oct. 20, 2023 and the more details the county included in the projects, the better chance of approval.

At the meeting, Wine displayed maps of the roads as well as a narrative explanation about each project and the roads that are located in the Low-to-Moderate Income (LMI) areas This information would be included in the GLO application.
Following discussion of each road included in the paving projects, the court approved those roads to be listed for GLO approval.
The roads in include: • Pct. 1 – CR 14 and involved in the LMI area. • Pct. 2 – CR 211 • Pct. 3 – CR 392 and included in the LMI area. • Pct. 4 – CR 461 and CR 455.
