Court holds special called meeting
The Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court met in a brief special-called meeting Friday morning and addressed two agenda items.
In the first item, the court discussed and approved an order regarding the selling and usage of certain fireworks in the county.
“In our burn ban that we have in place, it prohibits fireworks,” County judge Keith Mudd said. “We want to match what DeWitt County is doing by allowing some fireworks to be sold and some popped.”
According to Mudd, the order will mirror DeWitt County on certain fireworks during the Christmas season.
In regards to the other item, which was brought to the court’s attention at Monday, Dec. 9 regular meeting about bids to purchase a Bomag roller for Precinct 2, the court approved a bid from Weaco Equipment of Wopmelsdorf, Pennsylvania for $77,900 and includes shipping.
Precinct 2 commissioner Wayne Faircloth said since the bid has been issued, he doesn’t know if it will be available. He asked in his motion to use the other bid from T-Quip Sales and Rental of Londonderry, New Hampshire for $79,000 to be used as a back-up bid.
County Judge Keith Mudd presided over the meeting with commissioners Edward Pustka, Wayne Faircloth, Kenny Siegel and Dennis W. Kocian present for the meeting.
