The courthouse egg hunt

By Hans Lammeman HansPLamm@gmail.com Children armed with baskets crowded the Hallettsville square last Saturday morning, searching for chocolate-filled eggs and enjoying a special appearance from the Easter Bunny.

“This (was) our third annual Easter Egg Hunt put on by Flamingo Fro-Yo and Grafe Chevrolet GMC,” said Michelle Lanni of Flamingo Fro-Yo. “We do it on the courthouse lawn, (which is) a little different than most people do it because we want to incorporate our beautiful courthouse.”

In addition to the egg hunt, children in attendance posed for pictures in the gazebo with the easter bunny and participated in an egg race.

“We started this because we wanted to bring more families back to the courthouse to enjoy our beautiful courthouse,” said Lanni. “Just to bring the sense of community back to Hallettsville, giving the kids something to do.”

Lanni said that several parties helped make Saturday’s event such a success, including the Festival of Lights committee, Bradros Photography, her husband Michael, Grafe Chevrolet GMC, the Hallet Oak Gallery and others.
