DeWitt County judge attends TAC conference

The Honorable Daryl Fowler, DeWitt County judge, attended the 2022 County Management and Risk Conference, April 6-8 in Round Rock, which was presented by the Texas Association of Counties (TAC).

During the event, Texas county officials and managers attended sessions that provided resources and solutions for counties on the latest in risk management, human resource trends, workplace wellness, and more.

Breakout presentations covered topics such as preventing and addressing cybersecurity attacks, recognizing liability risks affecting Texas counties and county budgets, assessment of insurance coverage and risk controls, awareness of human resource and first amendment issues in the workplace, and lessons learned from the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Judge Fowler is chairman of the TAC Unemployment Compensation Fund Board of Directors and a member of the investment committee of the TAC Risk Management Pool. More than $800 million of investments within the pool provide security for the payment of member’s claims.

The V. G. Young Institute of County Government, a part of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, served as educational co-sponsor of the conference. Officials attending received continuing education credits, which apply toward mandatory continuing education requirements.
