Early voting in mayor race starts April 22
Early voting in the City of Hallettsville’s mayor race is set to begin in less than two weeks.
Early voting by personal appearance will start on April 22 and run through Friday, April 25 as well as on Monday and Tuesday, April 28-29.
Voting hours will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and take place at the Lavaca County County Annex Building.
Applications for Ballot by Mail (ABBM) or Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) are due by April 22 at the Lavaca County Election Administrator’s office.
The application must be received by the close of business hours on that day.
In the city election there is only one contested race with incumbent mayor Alice Jo Summers facing opposition from Gordon G. Clark.
Two city council seats are up for election this year with Audrey (Vaclavik) Barrera (Place 2) and Billy Barrera (Place 5) being unopposed.
Having no contested races, the Hallettsville ISD cancelled their election at its March Board of Trustee meeting.
Two positions on the board up for election are Place 4 and 5 and both are uncontested.
Current Place 4 board member, Justin Smith, has chosen not to run and Jon Lamson is the only candidate who filed for his seat.
Incumbent Place 5 board member, Brian Henneke, is unopposed.
The Lavaca Hospital District will not hold an election this year.
