Early voting starts Tuesday in mayor election

Early voting in this year’s Hallettsville City mayor’s election begins Tuesday, April 22.

Eligible voters in the city of Hallettsville can vote early through Friday, April 25, and also on Monday and Tuesday, April 28-29.

Voting hours will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m on each day with voters casting their ballot at the Lavaca County Annex Building located at 412 N. Texana St. in Hallettsville.

The general election will take place on Saturday, May 3 with the voting at the Courthouse Annex.

The City will be the only entity in Hallettsville holding an election with incumbent mayor Alice Jo Summers facing off against Gordon G. Clark.

City Council incumbents Audrey Vaclavik Barrera (Place 2) and Billy Barrera (Place 5) terms are up for election and both are unopposed.

Hallettsville ISD cancelled its election at the March Board of Trustee meeting due to two positions, Place 4 and Place 5,that are up for election being uncontested.

Incumbent Place 5 board member Brian Henneke is unopposed, while the Place 4 had only Jon Lamson apply for the seat.

The current Place 4 board member, Justin Smith, chose not to run for re-election.

Regarding the Lavaca Hospital District Board, this is a year it does not hold an election.
