Grand jury doles out ten felony indictments
Members of the Lavaca County grand Jury handed down ten felony indictments for the month of December 2023.
Of those 10 cases, three were marked as sealed indictments, which are typically issued whenever law enforcement has not yet served arrest warrants in an active investigation.
Keep in mind, an indictment does not mean that the person named is necessarily guilty of the crime(s) listed.
Rather it indicates that the prosecutor has met the minimum evidentiary standards to bring a criminal case to trial, at which time the courts will determine the guilt or innocence of the accused.
Receiving indictments this month were:
• Andrea Eliabeth Cruz for injury towards a child.
• Ashley Marie Hernandez for child indecency and sexual contact.
• Dondre Lakeith Hunt for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
• Jason James Lawson for assault towards a public servant.
• Zachary Jasper Taylor Manuel for property theft towards a human corpse.
• Zackariah Anthony Martinez for property theft towards a human corpse.
• Lonnie Durell Presson for bail jumping.
• Armando Isaiah Salinas III for assaulting a peace officer.
• Angela Marie Scott for burglary of a habitation and controlled substance possession.
• Ethan Nathaniel Zissa for sexual assault.
