Houston duo captures State Domino title

The 73rd annual Texas State Domino Tournament ended around 11:30 p.m. Sunday evening and after all the shuffling and domino playing came to a close, Walter Patterson III and Marcus Ford, both of Houston defeated the team of Richard Victory of Carmine and Terry Victory of Baytown to claim the championship title.

The domino pair of Eddie Kuban, of Needville and Joe Yenger of Bellville finished third, while the Hallettsville duo of Bobby Stratman and George Kincheloe took fourth place.

Ron Schielack and Gary Zwernemann, both of Caldwell finished fifth in the tournament.

David Taylor of Missouri City and Keith Turner of Sugarland captured the consolation tournament by defeating Jeremy Judd of Shiner and Harvey Woytek of Hallettsville.

According to tournament co-chairman, Glen Bludau, there were 64 teams competing, which was four less teams than the previous year.

Prior to the start of the tournament, ceremonies were held with Hallettsville’s Wink Bludau and Kevin Tesch, former Hallettsville resident and now resident of Moulton, being inducted into the Texas State Championship Domino Tournament Hall of Fame.
