The Yoakum Carl and Mary Welhausen Public Library is gearing up for several events and fun activities this January.
Starting this Thursday, Jan. 18 at 10 a.m., the library will host the Dewey Kids Club Pancake Brunch. This is for all current members of the Dewey Kids Club and those who would like to become a part of this club.
The program is from ages two to six, but all kids are invited to attend. On Friday, Jan. 19, the library will be celebrating National Popcorn Day. Anyone who checks out a book that day will get a free bag of freshly popped movie theater popcorn. There will be different popcorn flavors as well.On Jan. 26, the library will host an event with coffee and games at the Community Connections Senior Center located at 105 Kvinta Dr. This event is only for senior citizens and special needs individuals. Caregivers of these people are invited as well. Preregistration is required. Those interested can call the library at 361-293-5001. This event is sponsored by the Yoakum Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A Peguin and Snow Story Time event will be held at the library on Jan. 30. Here people will be engaged with a story on penguins, arts and crafts, singing, and other activities. People will also have the opportunity to learn how to make homemade snow. The library hopes people will mark their calendars to attend.
