July rains total 2.62 inches

July’s rain total fell near the average mark following two months which produced over 17 inches, and was much welcomed.

For the month rain totaled 2.62 inches, which sent the year’s total to 30.09 inches. Rain fell on nine days, with the heaviest of 0.59 falling on the eleventh.

For the year the city is on the plus side with normal rainfall being 24.36 inches.

July rainfall records include an all-time high of 24.68 inches in 1936, and zero in 1924.

Temperatures in July ranged from 103 degrees on the 22nd to a low of 73 degrees on the 14th.

The century mark was hit or surpassed on eight days, with highs averaging 95.1 degrees (normal is 95.5), and lows hitting 76.4 degrees, (normal is 72.9).

Fog was seen on 16 days, and thunder was heard on nine days.

AUGUST FORECAST

With no surprise August’s forecast holds news no one wants to hear. Without help from the tropics this August will be far below average in the rainfall department, as well as temperatures traveling in the high nineties and low hundreds.
