Lee Vi Moses named as new Shiner ISD Superintendent

The Shiner Independent School District welcomes Lee Vi Moses as its new Superintendent. He is taking the place of former SISD superintendent Alex Remschel.
Moses began in education teaching English and coaching football and track as well as girls’ basketball in Bartlett, Texas in 2003. About five years later, Moses landed his first job in administration as the assistant principal in Salado, Texas. He then moved to a position as a middle school principal in Rogers, Texas and then high school principal in Rogers as well. He spent 11 years doing that. This new superintendent role will be Moses’ first superintendent seat.
“Shiner ISD is a premiere district in the State of Texas,” Moses said. “If I’m looking for a place that aligns with the values of education and what I hold true, Shiner is a great fit for myself and my family.”
One of the top priorities for the district in Moses’ first year is listening and visiting with people.
“I want to hear what the community and the student’s priorities are for the district,” Moses said. “I want to adapt and add value. Shiner is a great place. Mr. Remschel has done a wonderful job, SISD has had great leadership.
I just want to come in and add value and try to bring my talents to Shiner ISD. I am truly honored and humbled by this opportunity to serve the students, families, and staff of this remarkable community.”
“I am eager to begin working alongside the talented educators, administrators, and support staff who are already making a positive impact on the lives of students in Shiner.
I believe in the power of teamwork and open communication, and I am committed to building strong relationships with all stakeholders.”
Moses plans to address academic achievement and equity across the district.
“Right now, education is in a state of flux and some of the priorities in our lawmaker’s minds are not the same priorities of our community’s minds,” Moses said.
“When it comes down to academics, we’re in a time where the jobs that some of these students are going into probably don’t even exist yet.
We need to be able to teach kids how to think and not what to think.
Most importantly, we need to have them enjoy their time in school. I want Shiner ISD to be the place that kids don’t feel like they have to get through.
So many times, students feel like they have to get through high school or get over high school.
I want school in Shiner ISD to be the place that launches them to what the next goal in their life is.”
Moses said his role in the district is to elevate the students, teachers, and administrators and staff so that they can shine.
“I want to give them the tools that they need to be successful and making our kids have the best experience that they can in Shiner ISD,” Moses said. “One of the ways I want to build relationships with teachers, staff, parents and students is to be very transparent and visible.
I will have a very open-door policy, and I won’t just stay in my office. I will be a moving target throughout the district; I’ll be in classrooms and on campus.
The more positive interactions I have, the better. I can only wish that for every kid, every parent, and every teacher and staff member that we create a positive experience for everyone in Shiner ISD.”
One of the things Moses enjoys most about education is building relationships.
“We are the profession that is preparing the kids to take our place,” Moses said. “All of our kids will be voters and blood donors. They will coach our little league baseball teams, they’ll serve in our churches, they’re going to be in the chamber of commerce and hold businesses in our communities.
They are the future, and we have the grace and the ability to impact the future one student at a time. The students will always remember where they’re from.
They won’t always remember what they learned, but they will always remember how you made them feel.
If our kids leave Shiner ISD having a great experience, they will remember that. That’s what I enjoy the most.”
As new Superintendent Moses said his goal is to dedicate himself to making every decision morally, legally and ethically.
“I am excited about the future of Shiner ISD and the opportunities that lie ahead,” Moses said.
“I am ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work in service of our students and community.”
Moses looks forward to meeting and working with the community of Shiner in the weeks to come.
