Lights out!

The City of Hallettsville underwent a power outage last Thursday, April 22.
The power outage lasted just over two hours and impacted customers including the Hallettsville Tribune Herald Office.
The outage was caused by damage to the City’s electrical infrastructure, which was traced back to a third party according to City Administrator Grace Ward. This could have included an 18-wheeler driving with an oversized load hitting one of the power lines. But that is just speculation.
While the City’s database does not track which residents or businesses are tied to specific circuits, the impact was widespread on the side of Hallettsville going toward Shiner.
City crews responded quickly and rebuilt three burned-out jumpers to restore power. The issue has since been fully resolved, and no lingering effects are expected. The City continues to assess infrastructure vulnerabilities to help prevent similar disruptions in the future.
