The Hallettsville Lions Club met Monday, Jan. 22 at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, with Lion president Charles Neumeyer presiding over the meeting.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Lion David Smolik, while Lion JoAnn Shimek led the singing of God Bless America and Lion Mike Moore conducted the prayer.
During the prayer, Lion Mike asked to continue to pray for Lion Jim Bujnoch, who is being treated for an illness at a hospital in Houston.
Guest at the meeting included Julie Hobbs, who will be joining the club as well as Bonnie Seydler, who served as the guest speaker at the meeting.
Seydler, who is the co-owner of the Third Street Inn, spoke about how her and her mother decided to purchase the home on Third St. and turn it into a multi-functional building.
She said with the help of Brandy Beem, they remodeled the home to allow for living quarters with the upstairs able to sleep six comfortably.
Seydler said they have turned the home into an Air BNB that can be rented out for the week or on weekends.
In addition, the home can, and has been used as site for birthday parties, tea parties and other functions.
Seydler said they have had an 8-year old birthday party as well as Chef Donald Smolik prepare a 5-course dinner one evening.
She said they have Art parties planned for the future and the building works well for wedding and baby showers.
“It’s just a multi-functional space for the community,” Seydler said.
According to Seydler, the Third Place Inn has a Facebook and Instagram page as well as a website.
Seydler said renting the house is for the whole facility and can be rented on week nights for $250 per night and $350 per night on weekends. They also will rent for events with a threehour period for $250.
Lion Mike Moore provided an update on the Sun Shade project and Lion Virginia Partida reported on renewals for the Flags over Hallettsville program.
Lion Charles asked for a volunteer to head the officer’s nomination committee with Lion Shirley Rothbauer volunteering.
Lion Charles said the club mainly needs a membership chairperson as well as a 2nd vice-president. All other current officers have said they will continue their role with the club.
It was decided the Lions Club installation social will take place on Monday, Feb. 12 at the Neumeyer home.
The meeting adjourned at 12:45 p.m. and the next meeting will take place on Monday, Feb. 5.
