Lions Club’s Pivo & Kolaches is back Oct. 22

Get ready, Shiner! The most grueling sport imaginable is just eight short weeks away, when the Shiner Lions host their second annual Pivo & Kolaches 0.5K fun run on Saturday, Oct. 22.

That’s right, folks: A whopping zero point five Kay. I’m not sure who she is, but we’re talking about 1,640 whole feet here, a little over 550 yard sticks.

All while eating kolaches AND trying not to spill any pivo (because everybody knows that’s a party foul).

So, if you see folks spending an inordinate amount of time over at one of our local baked goods establishments— stuffing their faces with those delightful Czech goodies like there’s no tomorrow—just know, it’s not what it looks like. They’re probably—well, um—training. Yeah, that’s it: Training…

Same is true for all those gents showing up home just a tad bit later and (probably) quite a bit happier than usual. They’re training, too. Hard. Twelve-ounce curls. With both arms.

They’re great for biceps, but not so much for the belt line. And they’ll be pounding them down at one of the many fine establishments serving pivo, as they can stand. Gotta get in shape, you realize…

Just be sure to mark your calendars BEFORE you start training. Let’s face it, you’re gonna be in enough trouble without missing the entire event, too. More details are coming soon, so stay tuned. Happy training, and Prost!
