Lions White Cane Day
Members of the Hallettsville Lions Club will be seen at locations in town this Saturday and will be hosting the Lions Club International’s annual White Cane Day.
The White Cane Day event, held each Spring, helps raise funds for the Lions Eye Bank as well as benefits Youth Eye Screening, the purchase of glasses and the Lions Eye Foundation.
The funds collected also help support programs and services for people who are blind or visually impaired.
Local Lions Club members will be present from 8 a.m. until noon in front of Brookshire Brothers, Hoffer’s Drive In Grocery and Kountry Bakery.
When one of the Lions members approaches you with a white cane sticker to place on your shirt, please consider donating to the club’s cause.
One of the many services provided by the Hallettsville Lions Club is sponsoring the cost of eyeglasses for needy children in the local schools.
In addition, if you have old glasses that you do not use anymore, you can turn them in to the Lions Club on Saturday as well.
These glasses are recycled and go toward helping improve some needy child’s ability to see more clearly.
