Man wanted for Cuero murder arrested in San Antonio after 76-hour standoff
After a 76-hour standoff concluded Sunday morning, San Antonio police arrested a fugitive wanted for shooting another man in Cuero in early March.
Sone Quintero Rojas fled to San Antonio with active warrants for murder and aggravated assault, according to a March 15 report from local news media outlet News4SanAntonio.
Rojas was accused of fatally shooting Bradley Bowles, 35, of Cuero; KSAT reported police followed a confidential tip received last Wednesday night to the fugitive’s hideout location at the Stone Oak apartment complex in San Antonio.
Rojas first held a hostage in the apartment complex he had barricaded himself in, though he eventually released her unharmed, reported KSAT. He reportedly threw items over the apartment's balcony periodically throughout the standoff.
San Antonio Police Chief Bill McManus shared on social media Sunday morning the three-day standoff ended peacefully.
“The 76-hour standoff at Agora Palms Drive ended this morning. Suspect surrendered and was taken safely in to custody,” wrote McManus on Twitter Aug 7. “Great job by SWAT and negotiators and all SAPD officers who worked it. Patience paid off! Well done!!!!”
Regional news sources report Rojas has been booked in the Bexar County Jail for murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, parole violation and property theft; the bond awarded totaled $800,500.
