Moulton Easter Picnic Sunday

The Moulton tradition Easter Picnic is coming Easter Sunday, April 17, at St. Joseph’s Social Center.

The day begins with mass at the church beginning at 10 a.m., followed by the Rev. Gabriel Maison’s annual blessing of the Easter baskets and an Easter egg hunt for the children on the lawn just outside the church.

Father Gabriel said they chose to revive their annual Easter picnic a couple of years ago because Easter is a time when families with roots in Moulton come back home each year.

“The picnic provides them an opportunity to gather together for mass and the eat and visit with friends and family, with an afternoon of entertainment all planned out,” he said. “This is our fun picnic, a chance for everyone to have fun with friends and family while celebrating Jesus’ resurrection.”

Dinner at the Social Center will be fried Chicken with trimmings for $12 per plate. Fried chicken to-go and plates-to-go will also be available.

A shuttle service from the church parking lot to and from the Social Center will be provided.

Activities inside the Social Center will include cake walk and the live auction begins at 1 p.m., with an assortment of quilts, wood-crafted and metalcrafted items, plants, antiques and more up for bid.

Music will be provided from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. by the Ken Brothers, and 3:30-7:30 p.m. by the Blue Denim Band.

Other outdoor fun will include a Country Store, Plant Walk, Ball Throw, and other games. Plus, there will be plenty of refreshments, snow cones, popcorn and hamburgers all afternoon.

“Mark your calendars now, and come join us for a good time Easter Sunday, April 17,” Father Gabriel said.
