Moulton PTO asks for public’s help with donation drives

The new school year starts just six days from today (Thursday, Aug. 11) and the newly formed Moulton PTO has been busy with two donation drives they’re hoping the public will come out and support.

One is a school supply drive for both students and teachers who might need a few extra items and simply can’t afford them. The other is to help outfit the teacher workrooms on both campuses.

The school supply drive helps both students and teachers get ready for the new year ahead, said Shirley Dees, PTO secretary.

“While you are out and about picking up your child’s supplies, you can help other students have a good start by purchasing just a few extra items. Those needed most are pink erasers; red, blue and black pens; folders; spiral notebooks; glue sticks; book covers; crayons; markers and rulers.

A full list of needed items can be found on the PTO’s Facebook page. They are also attached to the yellow school bus donation boxes located at the school’s main office and both Dollar General and Family Dollar store locations here in Moulton.

“The Stock-the-Workrooms drive will allow our teachers to step in and grab a quick pick-me-up while they are hard at work educating our children,” Dees said. “Requested items include pre-packaged snacks and candy, sodas, water, zero sugar beverages, hand soap, fruits and veggies. Office supplies are not needed at this time.

Items can be dropped off at the school’s main office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., or at Meet the Teacher Night on Tuesday, Aug. 16.

“The MISD PTO thanks everyone for their generous donations so far and wishes all a good and successful school year,” Dees added.
