Robertson named Lone Finalist

Vysehrad ISD has named a Lone Finalist for the superintendent position for the 2024-2025 school year. Board of Trustees name Rachel Robertson their Lone Finalist on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.

Mrs. Robertson will be joining the Vysehrad Eagle family later in June after awaiting the required 21-day process. Robertson transitions from her most recent role as the Special Education Director of the Schulenburg Special Education Cooperative. Her husband, Drew and two daughters will be joining her with her youngest becoming a junior high Eagle as the other is beginning her freshman year at high school.

Mrs. Robertson has taken the position of superintendent after Mrs. Robin Trojcak resigned from the current position as superintendent and principal this spring semester after accepting a Texas Strategic Leadership position at Region 3 Service Center in Victoria. While Trojcak envisioned remaining at Vysehrad School to continue to enhance the Eagle community for years to come, Region 3 offered her a position that she couldn’t resist. Trojcak will not only have the opportunity to work with other students but leaders in the 37 districts the Region Center serves. She will be assisting in mentoring other superintendents within the region to enhance their district leadership similar to Vysehrad’s.

Trojcak stated, “Vysehrad School is one of the most unique schools around. It was neat to hear that as soon as I was announced and introduced at the Region 3 monthly superintendent’s meeting that everyone knew Vysehrad as the school that “doesn’t wear shoes.” While I had to clarify that only happens when it rains and our students display good manners by removing their shoes prior to entering the buildings, it also showed our school is truly special. Our students exhibit strong work ethics, good hygiene, positive behaviors and high expectations. Students are expected to use their manners with the proper “yes ma’am” or “no sir”. It is not uncommon for students to open the doors for others or assist with taking out the trash from the cafeteria. Vysehrad is not only a small, rural “country”school, it is a school like no other. Parents are involved, students are engaged, learning is enhanced and individualized. Classes are small with one-on-one support on a daily routine all while offering the amenities that a larger school offers. Vysehrad does not only offer high rigorous lessons including high school courses that give students high school credits for courses such as Algebra, Health, Speech, Business Information Management (BIM), computer classes, etc. but also competitive UIL academic and extracurricular events with a variety of sports such as volleyball, 7-on-7 flag football, basketball, track, co-ed softball and new this coming year, soccer. The school hosts the local 4-H Club’s monthly meetings and more. Students who wish to participate in other amenities such as tackle football and band are eligible to participate and co-enroll with the surrounding schools as schedules allow as well. The school is truly amazing. We just finished our Strategic Planning process with the assistance of 25 community, parents, students and staff members regarding where our school currently is and where we envision our school to be in 5-10 years. The school is in the process of air conditioning/cooling the gymnasium and putting new sod on the football field. While we may be small, strong foundations are developed. Students do not just learn their letters, numbers, how to read, but they learn how to be a successful citizen of society with good manners, strong work ethics and a heart of gold. If you are interested in being a part of the Eagle family, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school and join our family. Registration is open and we would be honored to have you and your family join our school family!”
