Shiner band students excel at State Contest

The best high school musicians from across the state traveled to San Antonio to attend the Texas Music Educators Association All-State Clinic and Convention from February 7 - 10. Students earned a coveted spot in the All-State Band by being one of the best in their section at the area contest held in January.
The convention involves students having one last audition for a final chair placement, and then three days of rehearsals culminating in a concert in the Lila Cockrell Theater in downtown San Antonio.
The Shiner Comanche Band had two students earn a coveted spot in the ATSSB All-State Band. We are pleased to announce that Brooke Palmer earned 8th chair trumpet and Brianna Sofka earned 1st chair euphonium. These are outstanding results, especially considering our students are competing against musicians in class 1A-3A.
Brooke is a senior who has earned this prestigious honor twice, and Brianna is a senior who has earned this honor three times. Because Brianna earned a spot in the all-state band three times, she received a $500 scholarship for her achievements.
We are very proud of both of these girls and all of the determination, time, and effort they put into their instruments in order to earn this honor. Congratulations!
