Shiner Police Department enters into agreement with Operation Lone Star
The Shiner City Council approved an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement between counties and cities associated with Operation Lone Star for law enforcement services.
“The main goal is to make the community safer,” Shiner Police Chief Wayne Denson said. “This agreement is between the Shiner Police Department and 51 other law enforcement agencies as part of Operation Lone Star. This started out as border enforcement. Now, it’s to combat human smuggling, fentanyl or drugs, or stolen properties. Hallettsville, Moulton and Yoakum are a part of this agreement as well as DeWitt County.”
Mike Campbell of the Shiner Chamber of Commerce also spoke in public comment urging folks to attend the Shiner Chamber Banquet happening this Friday at 6 p.m.
“If you haven’t signed up or want to come, call the Chamber to RSVP,” Campbell said. “There will be bingo and dinner.”
Public Works Director Justin Hanson also spoke about the recent freeze.
“We made it through the freeze,” Hanson said. “Citizens have gotten accustomed to dripping their pipes and doing a better job of freeze protection.”
