State domino tournament set Jan.14

The 72nd Annual Texas State Championship Straight Domino Tournament will take place on Sunday, Jan. 14 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hallettsville.

Registration for those wishing to play in the tournament will take place from 7 to 9 a.m. and the charge to play is $40 per team. Entrants must be 18 years old or older.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremonies will begin at 8:30 a.m. with straight-domino play in the double-elimination tournament starting at 9 a.m sharp.

Domino play will continue through the day and evening until a champion is crowned.

The champions will receive a plaque and bragging rights for one full year.

The top 5 teams will be awarded prizes.

A consolation tournament will be held imediately after completion of the first two sets for those partners who were eliminated from the championship round. Two plaques will be awarded to the consolation tournament winners, plus cash.

A delicious barbecue chicken dinner will be served on that Sunday at the hall along with drivethrough plates-to-go also available.

Hamburgers and refreshments will be served all afternoon. The annual Wild Game Supper is scheduled for Saturday evening, Jan. 27 at the KC Hall.
