Several students were recognized in both academics and athletics at the Yoakum Independent School District (YISD) meeting June 9. The first student recognized was Emma Fling. She competed in the 2025 State Golf Tournament and placed 42nd out of 70 participants.

“Competitive athletics is an important and integral part of our school system,” YISD Board President Glen Kusak said. “Our school and community are very fortunate of having students of such high caliber who through hard work and dedication are willing to strive for this excellence.”

Six students were recognized for 2025 UIL Theatrical Design at the State Meet. Allison Cardona placed 2nd in Marketing set design.
