Veterans Day events in Moulton area

There are a couple of Veterans Day events happening around Moulton.

On Sunday, Nov. 10, there will be a Veterans Day service in Praha at the cemetery near the church there. The assembly will start at 10:30 a.m. followed by a flyover at noon.

“There will be a lunch consisting of Praha style fried chicken dinner sponsored by the Praha Veterans Club and Vietnam Veterans Chapter 870,” Coordinator Anthony Fikac said, “The service honors all veterans, but especially the nine young men from Praha who died in World War II. The cemetery and grounds of St. Mary’s Catholic Church include a Texas pink granite monument and three small stone chapels to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers.”

The Moulton Independent School District is also inviting the community to its Veterans Day program from 10 a.m. to noon in the new gym.

“The event will honor veterans and feature a guest speaker,” MISD Superintendent Renee Fairchild said. “There will be patriotic music and a tribute to deceased veterans with a playing of ‘TAPS.’ We will also recognize essay contest winners. All are welcome to join in this tribute to those who have served.”
