YISD discusses intruder audit report

The Yoakum Independent School District discussed its Districtwide Intruder Detection Audit Report Findings at the Nov. 11 meeting.
“A representative from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) performed an unannounced safety audit of Yoakum High School,” Assistant Superintendent for Administration Chris Kvinta said . “After checking exterior doors, the representative checked-in with the office to verify that safety procedures are being followed.”
“Our district policy states all exterior doors, as well as, classroom doors shall be locked. The TEA representative checked all exterior doors and a section of classroom doors for compliance,” Kvinta said.
As per regulation, a report regarding one exterior door out of compliance was made to the Board. Present staff members dis - cussed safety protocols.
Also at the meeting, Schneider Electric representative, Craig Mesenbrink, presented an update of completed projects.
Mesenbrink said , “We had a successful project recently with the Junior High School regarding the HVAC system and the lighting. There reconciled savings for Yoakum ISD through September 2024 was $139,560.”
Other items on the agenda include:
• It was reported the tax assessor collector collected $5.6 million of Maintenance and Operations and $2.4 million of Interest and Sinking funds.
• Campuses honored our veterans with successful Veterans Day programs.
• School cafeterias will be hosting Thanksgiving lunches on Thursday, Nov. 14.
