YISD receives construction updates

A representative from Weaver and Jacobs Construction gave project updates on both the new baseball field and the Career and Technology Education (CTE) Building at the Oct. 14 meeting.

“We started laying out turf over the baseball field over the weekend,” Weaver and Jacobs representative Shawn Brandt said. “We got turf delivered late Friday and the rest of it Saturday morning. We did the layout and today (Oct. 14) as well. They’ll continue laying turf throughout the week. Most of the outfield is done, we have the track stretched around the outside.”

Constructors will continue throughout the week laying turf and next week they’ll do further detailing.

“We also have new lights coming in and on Nov. 4, the lights will be changed,” Brandt said. “We also got the dugouts repainted. We went with ‘Bulldog’ blue on the face of both dugouts. We have a white roof and, on the inside, we went with a gray color.”

Eyehooks for the netting was also installed.

“We also have a canopy in fabrication, and we should be installing that around the first of December,” “Between now and then, we’ll get the footings installed.” Brandt said.

The new baseball field should be playable by Christmas.

“For the CTE building, we poured our concrete beams last Tuesday,” Brandt said. “Now, we’re working on plumbing.”

The glass, color, and framing of the doors in front of the school were also spruced up.

Contractors are also working on changing out HVAC units.
