By Clayton Kelley
In a very short agenda, student enrollment numbers were reported at the Yoakum Independent School District (ISD) meeting Sept. 9.
The report showed there was a total of 1,438 students.
The report also included there were 479 High School students, 270 Junior High students, 294 Intermediate School students, 221 Primary School students, and 174 Primary Annex students. At this time last year, there were 1,470 students.
“We still have a few students coming in so this report may change,” Superintendent Tom Kelley said.
Kelley also wanted to congratulate principals for a great start to the school year.
“The principals had a very good start and were very organized for the school year,” Kelley said. “Everyone did outstanding.”
The date for prom was also announced and it will be Jan. 25, 2025 so as not to interfere with activities during the Yoakum Stock Show week.
Yoakum ISD collected $11.5 million in maintenance and operations and $5.8 million in interest and sinking. The next meeting will be Oct. 14.
