Yoakum FFA makes second consecutive state appearance

Yoakum Future Farmers of America (FFA) members competed at the Area XII Leadership Development Events at Blinn College in Brenham on Nov. 18. There were four Yoakum FFA teams qualifying for the event. Senior Spanish Creed Speaker Jenny Lopez finished 11th.The Greenhand Skills Team comprised of team members Reagan Respondek, Aiden Alvarez, and Matthew Blanchard finished 9th. The Agriculture Issues Forum Team with team members Olivia Fojt, Andrew Lara, Gracee Respondek, Colby Jendrzey, Travell Dorsey, Maggie Rempe, and Lane Zinke finish in 4th place. Greenhand Spanish Creed Speaker Andrea Reyes-Martinez placed 1st and will be advancing to the state competition on Dec. 1-2 at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. This the second consecutive year Yoakum FFA has had a student qualify for state in the event.
