The burn ban for Lavaca County, that was ordered by the Commissioners’

Court on March 1, was removed last week.

According to the Lavaca County emergency management coordinator,

Egon Barthels, by order of Lavaca County Judge Mark Myers (under

authority designated by commissioners’ court) the order restricting outdoor

burning since March 1 was rescinded at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 26.

Although the ban has been lifted, Barthels reminds residence before

burning to please call the Lavaca County Communications Center at

(361) 798-2121 and let them know of location for burning.

Barthels said additional information can be found at his office’s website

at lavacaoem.com.

He added that updates will be posted to the Lavaca

County Office of Emergency Management’s Facebook

page.

“On behalf of all Lavaca County Fire Departments and

Lavaca County OEM, thank you for your assistance and

caution when burning,” Barthels said.
