94th Annual Tom Tom Festival schedule jam-packed with entertainment

Tom Tom to return first weekend of June

 

Yoakum’s largest annual festival will entertain locals and visitors with a schedule packed with entertainment for all ages from June 2 through 4.

 

The 94th Annual Tom Tom Festival hosted by the Yoakum Area Chamber of Commerce aims to be a triumphant return of the event after COVID-19 concerns and unfavorable weather presented challenges in 2020 and 2021. 

 

June 2

On Thursday, the historic festival kicks off with the Tom Tom Royalty Pageant at 6:30 in the Yoakum Community Center. Pageant participants ranging from preschool students to high school seniors will compete for spots as Little Prince and Princess, Little Mister and Miss Yoakum, Young Miss Yoakum, Jr. Miss Yoakum and Miss Yoakum.

 

June 3

Friday’s festivities include a carnival by the Yoakum Rodeo Arena from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m. with several attractions. A fiesta-themed kiddie parade with children ages 12 and under will travel through downtown at 6 p.m. 

 

A Biergarten and food booths will be available throughout the evening while several cookoff contests take place.

 

Guests are invited to polka and enjoy a free performance from Shiner’s Second Wind Band at the Yoakum City Park Pavillion from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m.

 

A bull riding event featuring mutton bustin’ and a calf scramble will occur at the Rodeo Arena from 7:30 until 9 p.m.

 

June 4

The celebration begins early Saturday with the Farm and Market Days in Centennial Park from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The Grand Parade will mosey through downtown beginning at 10 a.m.

 

The carnival will be open for guests by the Rodeo Arena from 1 p.m. until 11 p.m.

 

 A car, truck and motorcycle show will display stunning vehicles from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. The bull riding event continues on Saturday from 7:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.

 

Cookoffs will run throughout the day alongside a Biergarten and various vendors. Attractions for children include a standalone wildlife station, petting zoo, ring toss, and much more.

 

Live music performances will occur throughout the day, with free concerts in the Park Pavillion from Jose Ortiz from noon until 3 p.m. and Gabriel Espinosa from 3 p.m. until 3 p.m.

 

Saturday’s schedule concludes with a performance in Yoakum Community Center from the Cody Hibbard Band with Dawson DeBord - Southpaw as the opener. 

 

Yoakum Heritage Museum Tours are scheduled for various times throughout the weekend from June 3 through June 5.
