DeWitt grand jury issues 19 indictments June 2

The DeWitt County grand jury handed down 18 felony indictments after jurors met for their hearing of cases June 2.

Six of the 19 indictments returned as sealed, which typically indicates that law enforcement has not yet served arrest warrants in those cases.

Important to note is that an indictment does not necessarily mean that a person is guilty of the crime(s) listed. An indictment is produced whenever jurors believe the prosecution has presented enough evidence in a case to warrant a trial, at which time the courts will determine the guilt or innocence of the accused.
