YISD recognizes YHS Student Council

    This year’s Yoakum High School Student (YHS) Council members introduced themselves to the Yoakum ISD Trustees and received praise for their dedication to their community during Monday’s School Board meeting.

     

    Each student discussed their role with the Student Council and plans for serving their community through their committees this year. 

     

    “These guys are very, very awesome students. They're standup individuals, and I’m proud of each and every one of them,” said YHS Principal Maci McDonald. “ I’ve been with some of them since Junior High, so it’s awesome to see what they’re turning out to be. I have high hopes for all of them because they represent our school very well.”

     

    Trustees and staff thanked the students for their efforts, specifically for organizing the homecoming celebration and collecting litter from Bulldog Stadium after football games.

     

    “We are very proud and impressed with all of them. Your objectives and what your committees are in charge of are important to the Yoakum community and our school district,” said YISD Superintendent Tom Kelley.
