School district receives $20K grant

There wasn’t much fanfare that came of the Hallettsville ISD monthly Board of Trustees meeting Monday night.

The district was awarded a $20,000 grant from GVEC.

The grant will be used for lighting at the junior high and east of the high school.

The grant is funded through the GVEC Charitable Foundation and must be used within 12 months of the date the grant is awarded.

The attendance report for the first six weeks was received by the board.

There are 1,160 students enrolled in the district and the Average Daily Attendance (ADA) was 96.70%.

The high school had an enrollment of 429 students, there were 306 at the junior high and 425 in elementary. The junior high had the best ADA at 97.55%.

The district has collected 98.80% of the 2022 taxes ($10.57 million) have been collected. The original tax roll was $10.70 million.

At the end of September, the General Operating Money Market Account showed $8.12 million with a 4.88% interest rate at the end of September. In August the amount was $6.27 million.

The district had $534,263.89 in the General Operating Fund account compared to $1.01 million in August.
