Lady Brahmas defeat Bears for east chambers tourney title

WINNIE – The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas atoned for an earlier loss to Little Cypress Mauriceville by defeating the Bears, 39-25, in the championship game of the East Chambers Holiday Classic Friday.

The LB had lost to the Bears, 38-33, in the first game of the tournament Wednesday.

Macy Herring, who was named the tournament’s MVP, scored 14 points in the victory.

The LB held the Bears (17-6) to single digit scoring in all three periods.

The LB led 16-4, at the first break with Herring providing 6 of the points.

Kolacny was an alltournament selection.

LB 51, Splendora 36

Three players were in double figures in Hallettsville’s 51-36 verdict over Splendora.

The LB led 30-24 at the half prior to outscoring Splendora 14-6 in the third quarter.

Herring canned 21 points, Layten Kolacny 14 and Kasey Harper 10.

LB 47, Kirbyville 26

The LB had an easy time with Kirbyville in the victory Thursday.

The issue was in doubt until the second half. Hallettsville led 18-15 at the half before a 13-3 third in the third quarter put them over the hump.

Macy Herring notched 16 points and Alaina Halata 13.

LB 56, Evadale 23

The LB held Evadale to zero points in the 56- 23 win. Alaina Halata scored a game-high 15 points, Kasey Harper 10 and Macy Herring 10.
