Brahmas go 3-for-4 in S'burg

SCHULENBURG – The Hallettsville Brahmas went three up and one down in the Schulenburg Tournament last Wednesday and Thursday.

The lone loss came in the Brahmas’ final game of the tournament Thursday, 63-54, to Hempstead.

The Bobcats took a 45- 41 lead after three quarters before outscoring the Brahmas 18-13 in the final eight minutes.

Hallettsville (8-12) had a great start with a 20-point first period and had an 8-point advantage at the intermission.

William Mundine IV scored a game-high 19 points. Kaleb Blackmon, 6-3 posts led the Bobcats with 18 points.

Brahmas 51, S’burg 49

Dougie Mundine made four free throws in the final 21 seconds to give the Brahmas a 51-47 victory over Schulenburg Wednesday, Dec. 27.

The Brahmas were ahead 43-34 going into the fourth quarter before Byron Johnson was a big part in Schulenburg’s comeback with a pair of three-pointers that cut the lead to one point with 1:21 left. Mundine went to the free-throw line and calmly sank four in a row, the last with 0.8 seconds remaining.

Despite five turnovers, the Brahmas led 16-13 at the end of the first period with Shane Migura providing 5 of the points.

The Brahmas led 28-26 at half before Schulenburg went into turnover mode (11) in the third quarter and the Brahmas took full advantage by scoring 9 points in a row.

Mundine had a gamehigh 17 points and Shane Migura scored 16.

The Brahmas made 9 of 12 free throws and shot 40.0% from the field.

Brahmas 57, Burton 34

The Brahmas jumped on Burton for a 14-3 lead in the first quarter and were never headed.

The Brahmas led 25-12 at the half.

Freshman Kason Podhajsky led all scorers with 16 points with 12 coming on three-pointers.

Brahmas 54, Snook 26

The Brahmas snookered Snook , 5 4 - 2 6 , Wednesday with Dougie Mundine pouring in 19 points and Shane Migura 14. Hallettsville led 20-6, 33-9 and 41-19 after the three breaks.

The Brahmas canned 8 treys in the game.
